Manufacturer warranty programs.
Every new roof comes with a basic warranty from the shingle maker. Because we are a GAF Certified contractor and an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, we can also register an upgraded system warranty on your roof. Here is what each one covers, in plain words.

How your roof is covered.
Standard manufacturer warranty
GAF and Owens Corning lifetime shingles come with a lifetime limited warranty. Full, non-prorated coverage lasts for the first 10 years. After that, coverage is reduced based on the age of the roof.
Upgraded system warranty
Install the whole system, shingles plus the brand's matching accessories, and we can register an upgraded warranty. Full, non-prorated coverage then lasts for the first 50 years.
GAF
GAF System Plus Limited Warranty.
GAF Certified contractors can offer the System Plus Limited Warranty, and J.R.B. is GAF Certified.
- What goes on the roof: GAF Lifetime shingles plus at least 3 qualifying GAF accessories, like ridge cap shingles, starter strips, leak barrier, roof deck protection, or attic ventilation.
- What it covers: manufacturing defects in the GAF shingles and the qualifying accessories, with a lifetime limited warranty.
- 50 years of full coverage: GAF calls it the Smart Choice Protection Period. It is 50 years with System Plus, instead of 10 years with the standard warranty.
- Tear-off and disposal are included when a covered repair needs them.
- We register it for you. Upgraded GAF warranties have to be registered, and your contractor takes care of that.
- Lifetime means as long as you, the original owner, own the home. It applies to single-family homes owned by people. Other buildings get 40 years.
Owens Corning
Owens Corning System Protection and Preferred Protection.
Owens Corning Preferred and Platinum Contractors can offer these upgraded warranties, and J.R.B. is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor. We offer both and help you pick the one that fits your job.
System Protection
Covers the Owens Corning shingles and Owens Corning roofing components on your roof, with full, non-prorated coverage for the first 50 years. Tear-off and disposal are included if needed. Needs Owens Corning hip and ridge shingles plus 2 more Owens Corning components.
Preferred Protection
Everything in System Protection, plus 10 years of workmanship coverage from Owens Corning. Needs Owens Corning hip and ridge shingles, Owens Corning underlayment, and 2 more Owens Corning components.

Things to know before you choose.
Poor attic ventilation
GAF says problems caused by failure to install adequate ventilation are not covered. That is one more reason to get the attic right. See why attic ventilation matters.
Hail and storms
GAF says hail damage is not covered by its shingle warranties. Hail is a homeowners insurance claim. See hail and wind damage.
Mixing brands
The upgraded warranties need the brand's own accessories on the roof. We plan the whole system with one brand, so it qualifies.

Which upgraded warranty is best?
They are close. GAF System Plus and Owens Corning System Protection both give 50 years of full coverage. Owens Corning Preferred Protection adds 10 years of workmanship coverage from Owens Corning. We will walk you through the options for your roof.
Do I have to register my warranty?
The upgraded warranties have to be registered, and we take care of that. GAF says to contact them if you do not get your copy within 60 days.
What happens if I sell my house?
Both brands allow a transfer to the next owner under their rules. With Owens Corning, the new owner has to contact Owens Corning within 60 days of the sale, and a transfer fee applies. With GAF, coverage moves to the second owner if it is transferred during the Smart Choice Protection Period.
Does the shingle warranty cover leaks from bad installation?
Manufacturer warranties mainly cover defects in the products. Owens Corning Preferred Protection adds 10 years of workmanship coverage. Our own 5-year workmanship warranty covers our installation.
Does a warranty cover hail damage?
No. GAF says hail damage is not covered by its shingle warranties. Hail damage is a homeowners insurance claim.
